வேறொன்றும் இசை உண்டோ
இன்று மனதில் பொங்கும்
மகிழ்ச்சியை போல் வேறொன்றும்

எண்ணை குளியல் , புத்தாடை
பணியாரம் .பட்டிமன்றம்
விஷ்ணு வெடியின் மாறா வாசம்
நினைத்தாலே
ஆஹா இங்கும் நம் மண்வாசம்

இங்கு காலையில் எழுப்பி
எண்ணை வைக்க அம்மா இல்லை
புத்தாடை எடுத்து கொடுக்க அப்பா இல்லை
போட்டி போட்டு வெடி வைக்க தம்பி இல்லை
இனிப்பு கொடுக்க ஆளில்லை
தீபாவளி காசு வாங்க வாசலில் யாருமில்லை

வெடி வெடித்தால் 911 வரும்
கதவு திறந்தால் குளிர் வரும்
இருந்தாலும்
இன்று தீபாவளி , இன்று தீபாவளி
என்று மனதில் எழும் குதூகலத்திற்கு

அளவில்லை

இனிய தீபாவளி நல் வாழ்த்துக்கள்

அன்று கார்த்திகை.கும்பகோணம் பேருந்து நிலையத்தில் கடலூர் செல்லும் பேருந்தில், நான் ஜன்னலோர இடத்தில் அமர்திருந்தேன் .மனதில் விடுமுறைக்கு சொந்த ஊர் செல்லும் குதுகலம்.கையில் "நானும் அந்த இருட்டு மிருகமும் " என்ற மிக பயங்கரமான அட்டை படம் கொண்ட 5 ருபாய் புதினம் , இது போன்ற பயனிதிற்கு இத்தகைய புத்தகங்கள் நல்ல துணை .

பொதுவாக நான் பார்த்த பேருந்து நிலையங்களில் கும்பகோணம் பேருந்து நிலையம் , மிக சுவாரசியமான இடம் . அங்கு பங்கு சந்தை போல் ஒரு பரபரப்பு எப்பொதும் இருக்கும் .குறிப்பாக, ஒரு மூலிகை விற்பவர் வந்தார் .கிட்டதட்ட கலியுக சித்தர் அவர் .ஒரு வெள்ளை நிற முழுக்கை சட்டை , நீல நிற கால்சட்டை அதற்கு சிறிதும் ஒத்துபோகாத இளஞ்சிவப்பு கழுத்துக்குட்டை (tie ), இதுட்டன் ஒரு கருப்பு கண்ணாடி அணிந்திருந்தார்.

அவர் பேருந்தில் ஏறி மிக பலமாக கை தட்டினார் , ஒரு கணத்தில் சலசலப்பு அடங்கி , நடத்துனர் மற்றும் ஓட்டுனர் உட்பட அனைவரும் அவர் வசம் , அவர் பேச தொடங்கினார்
"சார் , இங்க பாரு , இது பல அறிய மூலிகைகளின் கலவை . இது பல் வலி , வைத்து வலி , கண்ணு வலி , கை வலி , கால் வலி இன்னா வலி வேனுகுணா சொல்லு சார் , இத ஒரு சொட்டு போட்டாக சட்டுனு போய்டும் " என்றார்

அப்போது இது ஒரு காமெடி என்று ஒரு சிலர் முனுமுனுக்க தொடங்கினர் , அந்த நொடியில் , அந்த சித்தர் யாரும் எதிர் பார்க்காத ஒன்றை செய்தார் சட்டேன்று ஒரு நெகிழ்லி (பிளாஸ்டிக்) காகிதத்தை எடுத்தார் , அந்த மூலிகை ஒரு சொட்டு எடுத்து தெளித்தார் . அது குபுக் என்று தீ பற்றி உருகியது .அனைவரும் 'ஆ'வென்று வாய் திறந்து பார்த்தோம் ."இப்ப தெரியுதா இந்த மூலிகை பவர் , நெஞ்சு சலிய இப்படி கரைச்சுடும் " என்றார் .

"யாருகாவது பல்லு வலி இருக்கா கை தூக்கு , ஒரு சொட்டு பல்லுல போட்ட போதும் , இனிமே பல் வலியே வராது . இலவசம் " என்றார்

"நீ மூலிகைய பல்லுல போட்டவுடனே பல்லு இருந்தாதானே வலிகர்ர்துகு " என்று ஒருவர் கருத்து தெரிவித்தார் . இருப்பினும் ஒருவர் தான் அதை முயற்சி செய்ய முன் வந்தார் , இலவசம் ஆச்சே. அவர் மீன்சுருட்டியில் (கும்பகோணத்திற்கு அடுத்த ஊர் ), நெஞ்சு எரிந்து சுருண்டு விழுந்தது வேற விஷயம்.

"சரி சரி , நட பஸ் கிளம்புது " என்றார் நடத்துனர் .சித்தர் " 5 ரூவா சார் நீயாவது வாங்கு" என்றார், ஏக்கமாக என்னை பார்த்து . அவர் கண்களில் அவர் குடும்பத்தின் பசி தெரிந்தது அதனால் நானும் மனதுருகி உடனடியாக 100 ருபாய் எடுத்து .......என்று எல்லாம் இங்கு பகடாய் எழுத மனமில்லை . அங்கு என் இடத்திற்கு மூலைவிட்த்தில் (diagonally opposite) ஒரு பேரழகி ஓரகண்ணில் , நடப்பதை எல்லாம் கவனிப்பதை நானும் கவனித்தேன்.உடனே "மூலிகை எல்லாம் வேணாம் , இந்தா 10 ரூபா போய் சாப்பிடு . பசிய காலி பண்ண ஏதாவது முலிகை கண்டுபிடி " என்றேன் . என் துணுக்கை புரிந்தவளாய் புன்னகைத்தாள் .

பொதுவாக பேருந்து பயணங்களே மகளிர் இருக்கைகள் இருப்பதால் அழகாவதுண்டு , அதுவும் நம்மோடு சரசமாடும் (கம்பெனி கொடுக்கும் ) பெண் கிடைத்தால் ,மனதில் கவிதை மழை தான்

இதோ ஒன்று , உடனே தோன்றியது

காலியான பேருந்திலும் ,
உன் புன்னகை பார்த்தவுடன்
பூக்களின் நெரிசல்

அப்போதே மழையில்
நனைந்த அந்த பூக்கள்
மெய் சிலிர்க்க ,
பேருந்துக்குள் சோவென்று
தேன் மழை

அதிசியமாய் !!! அன்று உடனே தொடங்கியது வெளியே சாரல் .

புறப்பட்டது பேருந்து . ஜன்னலோர பயணம் , கண்களால் சரசமாடும் அழகு பெண் , 5 ருபாய் புதினம் , ஜில்லென்ற சாரல் இதை விட சிறந்த அனுபவம் உலகில் உண்டோ .என் மனதில் அளவில்லா குதுகலம் , "இது தாண்டா லைப் " என்றேன் எனக்குள் .

சில மிக மகிழ்ச்சியன மணிகளுக்கு பிறகு , தீடிரென்று அவள் செய்கையில் ஒரு முரடன் அவளை கண்களால் பார்த்து பார்த்து கொலை செய்வதை, கண்களில் பயத்துடன் எனக்கு தெரிவித்தாள்.உடனே நான் மிக பயங்கரமான கோவத்தில் அவனை பார்த்து

புலி பசித்தால் புல் திங்கட்டும்
அனால்
உன் போன்ற எருமை பூக்கள் மேய்ந்தால் ,
மின்சார வேலியாய் நான் காவல் இருப்பேன்

என்று மனதிற்குள் கவிதை பாடி , அவனை பார்த்து நானும் பயந்து கண்டும் காணமல் இருந்தேன். அவள் கேவலமாக சிரித்தாள்.அதையும் நான் கண்டும் காணமல் இருந்தேன். பேருந்தில் நான் கோதாவில் இறங்குவதில்லை என்று நீடாமங்கலம் (கும்பகோணம் அருகே ஒரு கிராமம் ) ஆஞ்சனேயரிடம் சத்தியம் செய்தது அவளுக்கு தெரிந்திருக்க வாய்ப்பில்லை .

இரண்டு மணி நேரத்தில் வடலூர் வந்தது , மழை அதிகரிதுருந்தது .பேருந்தில் அனைவரும் ஜன்னல் மூடி இருந்தனர் .

இயற்கையை ரசிக்க தெரியாத மூடர்கள்
மழை
பூமியின் பஞ்சம் தீர்க்கும் உயிரூற்று
பல ஜீவ நதிகளின் ஜீவன்
உலகும் சுற்றும் வாலிபன்
உலகை காக்கும் வீரன்
அது தெருக்களை மட்டும் அல்ல
நனைந்து பார் , அதோடு இணைந்து பார்
உன் உள்ளத்தையும் சுத்தம் செய்யும்

உன் ஜன்னலை திற
உன் புழுங்கி கிடக்கும் உள்ளமும் திறக்கும்

உன் ஜன்னலை திற
இயற்கை ரசி ,பசி மட்டுமே வழக்கை இல்லை

உன் ஜன்னலை திற
....

என்று கவிதை படும் போதே சற்று என் கண்கள் அவளை தேட , பேருந்து நின்றிருந்தது , அவள் அந்த எருமையுடன் வெளியே மரவள்ளி கிழங்கு வறுவல் தின்றுகொண்டிருந்தாள்.அவன் அவள் ஆண் சிநேகிதன் போலும் .

நானும் 5 ருபாய் வறுவல் வாங்கி எதுவும் நடக்காத மாதிரி தின்றேன். பேருந்து கிளம்பியது , நான் மழை ரசிக்க தொடர்ந்தேன்.சிறிது நேரத்தில் , என் காதருகே இருமல் சப்தம் . முதலில் கவனிக்கவில்லை , திரும்ப திரும்ப அதே சத்தம். திரும்பி பார்த்தேன்

"சார் அந்த ஜென்னல் கொஞ்சம் மூடுங்கலேன்" என்றான் அவன்

நான் அமைதியாய் இருந்தேன் , அனால் மனதிற்குள் கோபம் கொந்தளித்தது இயற்கையை ரசிக்க தெரியாத மூடன். இல்லை, நீ அதை விட கேவலம் இயற்கையை ரசிக்க கூட விடாத மூடன் என்றேன் .

அவன் மறுபடியும் "சார் , இப்ப மூட போறிங்களா இல்லியா " என்றான் கறாராக .நான் முடியாது என்றேன் .பின் இருக்கைகளில் இரண்டு அல்லகைகள் "மூடு சார் " என்றனர் .

"இயற்கையை , ஜன்னலோரே பயணத்தை
ரசிக்க தெரியாத இந்த மனித இனம்
இனி சீக்கிரமாய் சாகும் " என்று சபித்து .மூடினேன் .

ஆறு ஆண்டுகளுக்கு பிறகு

திருமணதிற்கு பிறகு , என் ஒரு வயது குழந்தையுடன் , கும்பகோணம் பயணம் .நல்ல மழை . என் அருகில் இருந்தவனிடம் "சார் அந்த ஜென்னல் கொஞ்சம் மூடுங்கலேன்" என்றேன்.
இயற்கையை ரசிக்க தெரியாத மூடன். இல்லை, நீ அதை விட கேவலம் இயற்கையை ரசிக்க கூட விடாத மூடன் என்றான் அவன் . :)

Lately i came across the rituals involved in Ashvamedha as said by rig veda.I was surprised/shocked to read how they perform the ritual , listing a few from the above said wiki link below.

After this, the horse, a hornless he-goat, a wild ox (go-mrga, Bos gavaeus) are bound to sacrificial stakes near the fire, and seventeen other animals are attached to the horse. A great number of animals, both tame and wild, are tied to other stakes, according to a commentator 609 in total (YV VSM 24 consists of an exact enumeration).
Then the horse is slaughtered (YV VSM 23.15, tr. Griffith)
Steed, from thy body, of thyself, sacrifice and accept thyself.
Thy greatness can be gained by none but thee.
The chief queen ritually calls on the king's fellow wives for pity. The queens walk around the dead horse reciting mantras. The chief queen then has to mimic copulation with the dead horse, while the other queens ritually utter obscenities.^[2]
On the next morning, the priests raise the queen from the place where she has spent the night with the horse

The horse is dissected, and its flesh roasted. Various parts are offered to a host of deities and personified concepts with cries of svaha "all-hail".

The priests performing the sacrifice were recompensed with a part of the booty won during the wandering of the horse. According to a commentator, the spoils from the east were given to the Hotar, while the Adhvaryu a maiden (a daughter of the sacrificer) and the sacrificer's fourth wife.

Doesn't it look barbaric and i am sure that these are not definitely in line with todays ideals and ideas of Hinduism.
I really fail to understand and iam looking out for some one who can answer the
Why the heck they do this?
Is this the misunderstood version of the ritual?
Rig is all abt such rituals ?
So, it could have made sense at that point of time?
So, when does Hinduism's civilized version released and who released it ? Adhi Sankarar ?
So is it true that he was actually influenced by the ideas in Buddhism (Samanam) and changed Hinduism that way ?

காதலியே ,
உன் கண்கள் , தன் ஈர்ப்பு விசையில்
பால் வெளி கிரகங்களை தடம் மாறி
சுற்ற செய்யும் வல்லமை கொண்டது
ஆதலால் , இரவில் நிலவின் அழகை ரசிக்க
முயலாதே .

நிலவுக்கு நீ ஒன்னும் குறைந்தவள் இல்லை
உனக்கு தெரியாது
நிலவொளி மட்டுமே பட்டு மலரும்
மந்தாரை ,அன்று உன் நிழல் பட்டு
மலர்ந்தது

அது மட்டுமா , உன் கூந்தல் சேர நினைத்து
படர்ந்து வளரும் மல்லிகை ?
எங்கு நீ உடல் வருத்தி
குனிந்து பறிக்க வேண்டி இருக்குமோ
என்று ,உன் உயரதிற்கு கிளை
வளர்த்து நிர்கறது

பண்ணிரண்டு வருடத்திற்கு
ஒருமுறை பூக்கும் குறிஞ்சி ?
உனக்காக தினமும் பூக்கிறது

வாசம் இல்லா கனகாம்பரம் ?
உன் கூந்தல் சேர எண்ணி
என்றுமே வாசம் வீச ,ஒற்றை காலில்
தவம் இருக்கிறது

உன்னை சேர ,இப்படி பட்ட
இயற்கையின் முயற்சிகளே
தோல்வியடையும் போது,
நான் எப்படி உன்னை
கவர முடியும் ?

உடனே ஒரு ஒப்பந்தம் செய்தேன்
ஆம் அந்த மலர்களோடு தான்
நான் அந்த மலர்களை உன் கூந்தல் சேர்பேன்
அவை, என் காதலை உன் காதில்
அழாகை சொல்லும்

Stranger Than Fiction

Spoiler Warning : Don't jump to climax.Read in order.

I am going to write this.

It was 11 am in the morning and the sun was spraying heat like a furnace. Parking my bike, in a nearly barren land, where I could not even see a tree, i started walking towards the hill taking the only lone path.

I was all alone; there is no other soul to cry for help, except for the bright day light, if anything
unexpected happen. Which, I was thinking will happen.

At that moment, there in the distance I saw a girl in her early 13, red shirt, black skin, big teeth, stood frozen in the sun with a stare that will really send a chill inside you, with a basket in her hand selling flowers.

“Selling Flowers!?” I thought “Man this is the most strangest of the things you have ever seen so far.

She is selling flowers, where there is almost no one to buy it”

I went to her and said “Hey girl, are selling flowers? Who is going to buy this? I see no one here except you and me?”

The girl, with an unfriendly look and an even more unfriendly voice, told me “You will know” and
ignored me.

I left the place with a strange feeling, rather with fear deep inside my heart, I continued my walk to wards the hill in the lone path full of surprises.

I started to climb up the barren hill, carefully pressing my foot close to the rock hoping that it will give me some grip to climb on. Among the other things that occupied my mind I was also thinking about the girl and what she was up to. Few meters up the hill through the path with lots and lots of twists and turns there was no trace of any further , turning back to see down my path , I dint find it,there is no path, no route ,only rocks, all around huge and high .

I told to myself “May be I was lost in my thoughts, and just walked up without noticing” .I started to climb up, hoping to find a route from there .At a point, there was no road ahead, there was a gap,though the gap was not huge, still I have to jump to reach the other end.

I jumped! Landing up on the other end. I started to walk up the hill, thrilled.

“I dint see any one so far, how is it possible, a place so remote? Strange.” I was completely lost in my thoughts and there, again, I saw a huge gap ahead, which I can never jump.

“Come on. Turn back, start walking down, that’s it. Done” I told myself and started to walk down the hill. But something in me told me that I should try jumping the gap. The feeling was so irresistible that I turned back and started to run towards the gap .I ran as fast as I can and then, when I was about to jump, I gave up. Gasping for breath and thirsty for water i turned back and started to walk back all alone sweating .

On the way down, I was dehydrated and desperately needed water, at least a tree to rest in the shade. At one moment when I can walk no further, I was confused, I was thirsty, I was shaking, my bike, the girl in red shirt, the flowers, the rocks, the gap, the jump all ran through my mind .

Then I heard a bell, and the girl in the red shirt said laughing at me “You will know “.
I fainted.It was almost noon when I woke, still on the hill where I fell. It took few moments for me realize the heat on my back .I stood up with a shock, I cannot stand, there was an unbearable pain in my body and I was thirsty dying for water. But, I have to walk back, down the hill and I don’t have any other option.

Few meters down the hill, I saw for the first time another living being. Its a man, in his forties, tall,black and terrific. He we walking up the hill. In an ordinary situation I could have never dared to start a conversation with him, but today is not an ordinary day with me dying of thirst I yelled at him “I need help. Do you have some water to drink? “ No reply. He didn’t even turn back to see me.

I said to the stranger again “There is no way up there. I just tried going up”

He said “Run Down. Now” went off ignoring me, up the hill and behind the rocks.

I cannot tell what is happening to me, I just started to walk down, though I felt like running.
I almost reached down the hill. “Wait!” I told to myself. The scene there is the weirdest of all i have seen. There were shops, trees, people buzzing all over laughing, it looked very much like a normal busy market which is extremely abnormal for me .I have seen a completely different picture when I started up the hill.

“My bike” I thought.” Where is my bike? Oh my GOD where is my bike”. Is this not the place I
parked? Is this not place I started in the morning” I was confused. I was looking all around for any think that will suggest that this is the place where I started and in a distance among the busy crowd I saw a girl selling flowers. She wore a red shirt.

I ran to her and said “Hey where is my bike, the bike you saw in the morning”

“Who are you?” She asked looking surprised

Shocked I said “I talked to you in the morning. I know, you know about my bike. Where is my bike”

“How much money do you have?” said she

“What do you mean? Why should I tell you that?”

“Then I don’t know where you bike is”

“Ok, I will give you 10 bugs” .She laughed and walked away

“100”, she dint stop

“500”

“Follow me “she said .Confused, exhausted and terrified I followed her.

She took me through a slum like riverside; we went through lot of small paths, over drainage. I can’t breathe the air there for it smelled like a concentration camp. People there stared at me, laughed at me and some followed me.

She took me to a boy of her age “Here he is, Get 500 “she said to him and left.

The boy glanced at me, I thought of beginning a conversation but the environment was so unfriendly and confusing that I surrendered to it. All I wanted is my bike, so that I can ride back home.

“Come” he said and took me to a small house.

“Baba” he said from the entrance, “He has come” The voice in the house asked “How much he has “.

The boy grabbed my purse, I pushed him aside, but he did it with more force and I fell down. I cursed and was thinking how I could have strangled him if I was not in such a pathetic situation.

“5000” the boy said to the voice, counting the money in my purse

“Any Gold” asked the voice

He cleared my shirt color and checked.” A chain” said the boy. He cut the chain too.

“Give him the bike “said the voice.

The boy took me to the backyard and showed the bike “Take it “ he commanded

At that moment I grabbed the purse and the chain from him and ran from the place, I ran as a deer runs for life .I crossed all the stares from people, I ran as much as I can, for I know that the bike there is not mine.

I was thinking “Did I come the wrong way down the hill. Or am I on the wrong side of the hill.
But what about the girl in red shirt? I am sure . I met her in the morning. Then where is my bike “still running.
I banged into a man straight”I am sorry. I was just out of control. I was running for my life. I don’t know where I parked my bike “.I said to him

“So you are the one ha? “ Said he

“Who?”

“The one who parked the bike in front of my gate, there, just in front of the board saying No Parking In Front of the Gate” said he showing the bike near his gate “I don’t believe this. Luxurious team lunches and dinners ,lavish team outings are very common in todays high profile software industry. The management and the members of the team are ready to spend thousands just for salads and desserts .
I accept and know the fact that this is a mentally stressful industry and its people need all these kind of relaxation and fun Yes it does develop team spirit .But the point is that why do we always focus on these to build team relationship and relaxation .

Why cant we change these in a way that it helps the very society where we live in ?

Why cant the java team organize a blood donation camp ?

Why cant the C++ team take a day off and visit a orphanage ?

Why cant a team move out to a slum and apply all those logic and knowledge they have to see how or what they can do improve the lives of the people there ?

Why cant a team think about the child dancing inside the rings for a piece of bun ?

Sadly our society's bug list is very long and it really needs developers and managers to fix them all.
These build team relationships too.

Last week i had the worst experience in my life looking for a house to stay on rent. I started my search confidently powered with various yellow pages in the city.I was so confident that i will get a house after seeing too many offers in the papers.

MTC adding color to life (Re-published)

The MTC bus passengers( steel rods in the concrete pillar)know how frustrating and tiring it is to reach their office in the morning.

There is no meaning in bathing , dressing and above all polishing ur shoes coz wen u get out of the bus u will definitely be ripped off all the efforts u have put to make u look better and even more than jus looks, ur pockets will throw a null pointer exception :-) if u wer not careful.

But for an optimist who tries to see fun in everything this MTC bus is really a 'Varaprasatham'(much awaited stuff).

U will have one great old man way behind generations reviewing today's movies , bad mouthing the low low hip traditions in today's market and a proud young man questioning him back about the meaning of famous 'Elantha palam..Elantha palam' score of the old mans age.

U will definitely have a lawyer (offcourse not by his qualification) appealing to the crowd in the bus 'In mumbai and delhi girls and guys sit together in bus but in chennai these ladies still shout at men for standing behind them' and an old woman replying 'mm then go to delhi'

U can see all the great political analysts,astrophysicist's,law makers, mathematicians(Silara baki sariya vanganumay!!!) and among all of them the most talented 'The MTC bus Driver'.

And above all u will employed in part time as an assitant to conductor.For this fact this is mobile employment exchange.

But the cream of all,the most unforgettable enimies of the driver and conductor'the omnipresent college students'. U can see them all over the bus on the top,near the tyre, in the front , on the side windows but never inside the bus.They electrify the atmosphere their beats , their jokes and in short they can never be equalled .They will definitely bring smile in ur lips .

There was article in DC dated 16 th feb 2006 about the way these guys (Nandhanam Arts College Students) bid their farewell to the bus(45 B, 23 C) which they travelled all through three years to their college.They decorated the bus and distributed sweets to all the passengers that day.
Not stopping with that they be-friended their enimies (all D's & C's of 45b) by buying them shirts and pants.
Really great work guys.

When I intended to write something under this topic ,do you know the first thing I did ?
Googled for "Duties of a brahmin".
What a shame ? Being a brahmin myself am i not supposed to follow these or atleast know these.
The truth is that ,yes iam supposed to know but i dont.Not stopping with this i definitely say iam not alone.
If i generalize my situation to all the brahmins some may argue with saying thay doesnt fall under this category. Thanks, I heartily appreciate them for the very fact that its only because of them this tribe is still surviving.
But the truth is that 75 % ,why not 90% of the brahmin population are "Brahmins" are just by their birth .
The very first and the basic myth of staying vegetarian itself is in stake. Only very few brahmins follow or atleast know their daily rituals like Sandiya vandhanam,Gayathri jabam,(i dont even know more than this) If this is the case today then tomorrow , my,yours, ours identity will all be lost.
Am i not mudrering my historical tribe,culture , practice and traditional values myself.
Is this what the modernization has given me? Why are my parents or the society is not stopping me from my dereliction of my duty?
But, why am i blamming the society,does it ask me not to follow?
Then why am i not doing it.?
The only answer the question
Why should i do something when not doing it is not an issue?

Today

8:30 Am.

It is one of the busiest subway in the city ,buzzing with activity.It sees thousands and thousands of people dialy.It is open to all, rich,poor,literate,illeterate,powerfull,useless ,teacher,pickpocket this list is endless .It goes by this tag line "Whoever or whatever you are,it doesn't matter,if u got to get to the other side u must go through it".

This subway is also special in way that ,it is opened by M.G.Ramachandran(well known as MGR).Iam one of the thousands for whom this subway is a part of day-to-day life.But probably the unique to feel proud thinking "Man now you are crossing the sub way once crossed by MGR"

If this subway is just part of life for some , for some it is the life.It is the main source of their income.You can buy anything from flowers,umbrellas,fruits and electronic gadgets to shirts.No other place drives so much a crowd. It is ,infact a business complex underground from, the time it opens in the morning till it closes late in the night.

And today at 8:30 it was as normal as any other day.

8:55 Am.

The subway is full.Business is in full swing.I think flowers and kerchiefs sell the most here than in any other place in chennai at this point of time.All that you can see is faces some very serious , some very sad, some really happy and some disappointed as they lost the mobile signal amidst the important call.These things are very normal at this time of a day.

9:10 Am.

There in the distance a man with a black shirt and lungi entered the subway.He was well built and six foot tall. He had very horrible scar on his alarmingly threatening face.
The very look at him will make you feel that he is upto no good and will definitely pump your adrenaline. Even he doesn’t seem too comfortable, he was sweating slowly in the corner of his head.He looked horrified pre-occupied with the execution of the order form his BOSS.

He tried to justify his move by thinking of the reason behind .It was just yesterday evening he was talking to his BOSS.

With a determined face he slowly made a move to-wards one corner of the subway.He was very careful that no one should note his next move.And he tried to look as if he is he is upto nothing.
But actually any one who passed him looked at his threatened face suspiciously.In the mean time he slowly slid his hands into his underwear pockets.

9:25 Am

Though well educated and placed in a software company,iam orthodox,the reason being i never take the left side way into the subway.Well, that cannot be fully accounted to as 'Orthodox',there is also a strong reasoning behind that.

The first time i took the left side in ,i lost my purse in a crowded bus,the next time it was a real bad day in my office.The other time when i really dared to take that way i was bleeding a hell after an accident.So i decided never to take that way hereafter and it did pay me well.
But today, unfortunately iam pushed to the left side in , into the subway by the crowd and my worst fears poped-up alive.

When i got into the subway,i saw things happening to confirm my worst fears.There was commotion and terror all over.Everyone was moving to a place where some thing is happening. I tried get through the crowd to see what is happening.There in the center two cops were taking to a man in red shirt.

Is this he, who is standing here for the past half hour ?Pointing to a man in black shirt with horrified face.

Yes sir ? he is also having something in his pocket.When he is not being noticed he puts his hand in to take something and suddenly when he is crossed by some one he takes his hand out, very suspicious so .., i called you sir

Ho ok we will see to that.Now the cops turned to the horrified man in black shirt.

Who are u?Whats your name? one of the cops asked him.
Sir,iam Sayeed.Sayeed khan answered the man.

Yes sir, said the man gleefully with his black face red in shyness.

The crowd was cheered up and the terror in the subway started to subdue and for me my worst fear got postponed.

9:30 Am

The man finally inserted a 5 rs coin in the machine and took the delivered condom his surprise no one was laughing at him.Its then he thought It seems its very common.

I had always wondered why I never said anything to myself at those moments.. as if it was "understood"... happiness, joy, pain.. all feelings just flowed ceaselessly in the 'years' that passed in those flash moments !

The first 'Hello World' of my life started in my '5th' standard with that black machine in my fathers office which will always be operated by a sweet lady.I have always wondered her speed and accuracy working on that. The elegance with which she feeds the paper and pulls the feeder back to the position once a line is finished can never be seen today .

Typewriters are really fascinating to watch at , the movements of the ribbon and type bars up and down are really enjoyable as if they are dancing to a rhythm. Everyone one from a middle class family would have been to a typewriting class at some point of their life.The type writing classes were the places of fun which will tell you thousands and thousands of love stories.We even had movies on those love stories.

It was a source of confidence in those days.The one with a typewriting lower/higher qualification is a sure shot winner in interviews.

But these elegent machines are just history now.we cant see them anywhere. We dont even think about it. We don't feel the vacuum their absence have created.

We can no more here their 'tic' 'tic' 'tac' 'trrrr'.Yes modernization ,do snatch good things from us.
I really miss it.

HINDU'S HOLY BOOKS ACCEPT HOLY PROPHET MOHAMMAD'S (PBUH) EXISTENCE

Pundit Vedaprakash Upadhyay, a Hindu professor, in his stunning book claims that the description of the" Avatar" found in the Holy books of the Hindu religion, matches the Holy Prophet Mohammed (PUBH). Recently in India, a fact-revealing book has been published. The Book has been the topic of discussion and gossip all over the country.The author of this book, Pundit Vedaprakash Upadhyay, is a learned and famous Hindu professor. The book is Kalki Avatar. Pundit Vedaprakash Upadhyay is a Hindu Brahmin of Bengali origin. He is a research scholar at AllahabadUniversity. After years of research, he published this book, and no less than eight pundits have endorsed and certified his points of argument as authentic. According to Hindu belief, the Hindu world awaits "the guide and leader", named Kalki Avatar. However, the description as given in the holy scriptures of the Hindu points only to the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) of Arabia.Therefore, the Hindus of the whole world should not wait any longer for the arrival of Kalki Avatar (the spirit) and should readily accept Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) as Kalki Avatar. These are the FACTS verified and supported by eight other eminent pundits. What the author says is that Hindus, who are still anxiously awaiting the arrival of Kalki Avatar, are simply subjecting themselves to never ending pain. Because, such a great messenger has already arrived and departed from this world fourteen centuries ago.

The author produces the following sound evidences from the Vedas and other holy books of the Hindu religion in support of his claim:

1. In the Puranas (Hindu scriptures), it is stated that Kalki Avatar would be the last messenger of God in this world. He would be for guidance of the whole world and all human beings.

2. According to a Hindu religion prediction the birth of Kalki Avatar would take place in an isle, which again according to Hindu religion is Arab Region.

3. In books of Hindus, the names of the father and the mother of Kalki Avatar are given as VISHNUBHAGAT and SUMAANI respectively. If we examine the meaning of these names we shall come to some very interesting conclusion. VISHNU (meaning God) + BHAGAT (meaning Slave). Slave of God = ABDULLAH (in Arabic) is the name of Prophet's (PBUH) Father.

SUMAANI (meaning peace or calmness).Aamenah (in Arabic means peace) is the name of Prophet's (PBUH) Mother.

4. In the religious books of Hindus, it is mentioned that the staple food of Kalki Avatar would be dates and olives and he would be the most honest and truthful person in the region. Without any doubt the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) is acclaimed to possess these qualities.

5. It is stated in Vedas (holy book of Hindu Religion) that the birth of Kalki Avatar would take place in an honorable clan. This perfectly fits the Quraysh where Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) belonged to.

6. God would teach Kalki Avatar through His messenger (angel) in a cave. Allah taught Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) through His messenger Jibraeel (Gabriel), in a cave known as Ghaar-e-Hira.

7. God would provide Kalki Avatar with a very speedy horse to ride and travel the whole world and the seven skies. Indication of burraq (Horse) and Me'raaj (the night when Prophet [PBUH] travelled the seven skies).

8. God would provide Kalki Avatar with divine help. This was particularly proved in the Battle of Uhud.

9. Another dazzling account given about Kalki Avatar was that he would be born on the 12th of a month. Whereas the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) was born on the 12th of Rabbi ul Awwal (Hijra Calendar).

10. Kalki Avatar would be an excellent horse rider and a swordsman.

The author here draws the attention of Hindus that the real days of horses and swords have gone and the present time of guns and missiles. So it would be foolish on the part of those who still expect Kalki Avatar, who should be an excellent rider and swordsman to come. In fact, the divine book, the Holy Qur'an, contains qualities and signs attributed to Kalki Avatar reflecting on the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).

He Deserves to be remembered

Yes, Its hard to believe that we forget him , the man behind rebuilding the lives of many people shattered by the disastrous Tsunami, he is none other than the hero of bollywood & cuddalore Vivek Oberai.
His love and magnanimity for the affected people had no bounds but those were not reciprocated properly by the people in tamil nadu or atleast by the people in cuddalore.

This government and people dint even have a thought of inviting him and thanking him for all the things he have done to bring hope back into the life of the affected.We didnt even care to invite him to show him how his contribution have changed the lifes of people after a year of the tsunami.

Its bad that we forget him.

Funny rite,but this is no joke this is the way the tamil activists or tamil saviors work to save the prestigious language .Yes they 'tar ' where ever they see some thing in English be it hoarding or an advertisement banner in a tea stall.They don't even spare highway mile posts.
Absurd isn't it?

Their motive of saving 'Tamil' is really good and i don't have any second thought that the survival of the language has become a real issue nowdays.When there are groups , organization and funds raised to save some species that are nearing extinction , this language issue is some thing more trivial than that.

'Tamizh' the very word sounds sweet.It carries with it thousands and thousands of years of tradition , culture and literature with it.Its the language of Kambar ,Thiruvalluvar to today's P.Vijay(Autograph song).

So, losing the very face of it is really horrible.When we lose a language its not just the language we lose but, with it, it takes the people who spoke it,their history , their tradition and above all the people of this world lose one of the ways to express themselves.

We must be really worried about this loss and whenthe loss is in such a big scale , it becomes important to handle things in a more organized and matured way .The solution is definitely not blindly 'tar'ing other languages.

We must understand that " We can't develop one language by killing the other ". Our language's development cannot and never be achieved by spoiling the growth of other language(particularly English).

So lets work out ways to develop our language rather than finding ways to eliminate other languages.

This is small note to the people who 'tar' english hoarding.

Lets take a simple example 'Mani tea stall '
A sponsored advertisement banner(with sachin's photo in it as if he daily drinks tea there)
says

"Mani Tea Stall" in english

and the same, exactly the same in tanglish as follows

Our problem is not the one in english but the one in tanglish so 'tar' that and not stopping with that write it as

Oh Child...

It was a busy morning. I was going to my office in a jam packed bus , standing in between two people with my neck, hands and legs in a very odd position as if I am learning kathak. I thanked my kathak tutors profusely and was lost in thoughts of what i have to do that day.

At that moment a small girl roughly around 2-3 years of age dressed neat, listening to music with headphones and talking animatedly to her mother got into my attention.

Interested, i moved close to her to know what she was telling her mother. She was talking in a very low voice that i cant hear, but i can see her writing something.

I focused on it, it was the name of some months written in very childish way, at that moment her mother said "Ok good write April...."

She dint react, her mother asked the girl to look at her mouth and said "April" again, now the girl started to write it as "Au" and started to think with the pen in her mouth.

I laughed at her thinking she doesn't know the spelling of April.

Now her mother asked her to see her again and said "April" just by moving her mouth and not saying anything else(no sound). There was a sudden spark in the child's eye and she wrote "A p r i l".
After finishing "April" with a triumphant face she called her mother to show that. But her mother was busy helping others to buy tickets without paying attention to her. The child called "A mmm aa" but no sound, just movements of lips i moved closer to hear her .

She called again "amma" iam sure there is no sound i cant hear her.

Yes, oh my god, she is deaf and dumb. And what was there in her ears was not a Walkman as i thought it to be but a hearing aid.

Yes , till now she hasn't heard her mother's voice,she hasn't heard her brother neither her father call her name nor heard birds singing for her.

She is not heard by her mother calling "AMMA" with her sweet voice. And above all the child doesn't know that she can do all these(hear and talk).

What a loss?

God why did u punish a small child with such a big loss. Didn't u find corrupt politicians, thieves and others who are unfit to survive in this world.

What else i can do ? I kept my hands on her head, as if blessing her and thought "if i have done any good deeds and if at all i have any credits for it let all the credits go to this poor child and help her to come back to normal".

My heart was very heavy.

Later i came to know from her mother that the child lost her capability to speak and hear when she was six months old and there is always a hope that she will get back to normal.

She is now currently enrolled in a school for Deaf and Dumb some where near Adayar and she is doing well.

I got down in my stop and after a few minutes of walk thinking, i thanked God for having given her flowers,oceans,rivers,sun,moon everything thats the part of this nature for her to speak and hear and above all a Great Mother.

Lets pray for all such children to get well soon.

Master's Master Sacrifice

It was an ordinary day in office.Starting home with my frnd i never had a hint that, the incident is going to happen.Was waiting for my bus to come , praying i must a get a place to sit.

When i saw the bus partially full i thanked god and settled in a place.Even now i dint have a hint of it.

After two stops, the bus was packed with ppls whom i dont know, but there in the distance i can see a short man , his face was very used to me "mm think ganesh who's that....?"
Hay, its my physics teacher :-) ,yes he was my Physics teacher from my 9th to 12 th standard.WOW what a surprise .At the same moment he too recoganized me .

I forget all the crowd around me and how old am i, i stood up and said in the same rythm we used tell in the school "Good eveeeningggg sir"and immediately went to his place (not bothering abt my place and bag ,but both was taken care by a guy who was very happy to get a place to sit unexpectedly.)

"hay how r u?"

"Iam fine sir and how do u do sir?"

"Fine man , so are u married and wer do u work?"

"Sir :-) iam jus 23 ...will take 2 more years to get married .Iam in a software company in mylapore and what do u do here sir?"

"haaa actulayy i work in Gooduvanchery(a place after tambaram) and come here to take tution daily."

The travel time between the two places will take atleast 2 hours.He works in a school there in Goodunavchery and after a days long work comes to mylapore to to take tution.
Man he will still earn less than wat u get.I watered in my eyes :-(.

"Sir iam very comfortable and happy.U made us to be what we are now but u are still where u were ..i feel really moved"

"hay man thats this profession.we feel happy not by the money we get but by the ppl like u,who we give to the society.As i see u in this bus today in such a successfull situation and above all talking to me , i can tell for sure that iam the happiest person in this bus today.Thats the satisfaction in this profession.

We feel our purpose served when we see u ppl in a situation wer we dreamt to be, ok..?.

mmm wat r u studying now?(in a usual master to student tone)"

"As of now i dont do anything sir but planning to MBA r MS will do it soon"

"mm what ever you do ,do it fast bcoz this is the age , later after marriage u cant do this"

"and don't join s.....(dont want to specify the name of the company) i have my cousins working there and i heared from them that they dont give any good increments do u know?(in the same master to student tone...as if he knows all about the software industry)

"yes sir i will not ... :-)"

"mm good "

After this we wer talking abt my class mates and what they are doing now.He was very happy about our good growth.And when the bus neared the place iam supposed to get down i asked him.

"Ur mobile no sir ?"

"Hay no man iam jus planning to get a new one"

God he doesnt have a mobile even.What a man! how many of us carry a lap top now bcoz of him, but he still dont have a mobile.He is really great.

"sory sir.. ur land line sir?"

"m note it..."

"and this is my number sir"

"mmm ..... sorry man i dont remember ur name"

"Ganesh ram sir..(After all he has seen thousands of students)"

"Ok man carry on ..don forget to invite me to ur marriage ha ha ha"

"Sure sir"

i came back to my place, the guy sitting in my place thankfully got up.i signalled him to sit and jus took the bag from him and prepared to get down.

At that moment the nick name we used to call my master flashed in my mind "Chitra kullan".I let few drops down my eyes and got down the bus.

Yes my master has done a master sacrifice.

This is a tribute to him.
